Of course, everyone knows the obvious anniversary - Nov. 29, 1947 was the day the UN General Assembly passed the plan to recommend the partition the British Mandate of Palestine into a Jewish state and an Arab state. The Jews accepted the plan. The Arabs -- both local and regional - rejected it. The local Arabs who 25 years later became known as "Palestinians," responded to the passage of UNGA resolution 181 by launching a terror war against the Jews. Their war was commanded by Iraqi and Lebanese terror masters and supported by the British military and its Arab Legion from Transjordan.
On May 15, 1948 five foreign Arab armies invaded the just-declared Jewish state with the declared aim of annihilating all the Jews.
Now for a couple less known anniversaries
On November 28, 1941 the religious and political leader of the Palestinian Arabs and one of the most influential leaders of the Arab world Haj Amin el Husseini met with Adolf Hitler in Berlin. Husseini had courted the Nazis since just after the Nazis rose to power in 1933. Husseini was forced to flee the British Mandate in 1937 when he expanded his fourth terror war against the Jews, that he began in 1936 to include the British as well.
He fled to Lebanon, and then in October 1939 he fled to Iraq. In April 1941 he fomented a pro-Nazi coup in Iraq. As the British -- with massive unheralded assistance from the Jews from the land of Israel -- were poised to enter Baghdad and restore the pro-British government, Husseini incited the Farhud, a 3-day pogrom against the Jews of Baghdad that took place over the festival of Shavuot. 150 Jews were murdered. A thousand were wounded and 900 Jewish homes were destroyed.
With the coup defeated and the Jews murdered, Husseini escaped to then pro-Nazi Iran and then in October to Germany by way of Italy. (He was flown out of Iran on an Italian Air Force plane, and feted by Mussolini when he landed in Rome).
He arrived in Berlin and two and a half weeks later he had a prolonged private meeting with Hitler. There, on November 28, 1941, two months before the Wannssee Conference, where the German high command received its first orders to annihilate European Jewry, Hitler told Husseini that he intended to eradicate the Jewish people from the face of Europe.
Husseini remained in Berlin through the end of the war and served as a Nazi agent. In Berlin he broadcast daily diatribes to the Arab world on German shortwave radio in Arabic. Specifically Husseini exhorted them to kill the Jews in the name of Allah and make common cause with the Nazis who would deliver them from the Jews, the British and the Americans.
In 1943 Husseini organized the Hazhar SS Division of Bosnian Muslims. His division carried out the massacre of 90 percent of the Bosnian Jewish community of 12,000.
In 1920 Husseini personally invented what later became known as the Palestinian national movement. He shaped its identity around the sole cause of destroying the Jewish presence in the land of Israel.
During the war Husseini used his broadcasts to shape the political and religious consciousness of the Muslim world by fusing Islamic Jew hatred with annihilationist Nazi anti-Semitism. Whereas much of the Nazi anti-Semitic ideology was discredited in postwar Europe, it has remained the single most resonant theme of Arab politics since World War II.
In 1946, as his fellow Nazi war criminals were being tried in Nuremberg, Husseini made a triumphant return to Egypt where he was welcomed as a war hero by King Farouk, the Muslim Brotherhood and the young officers in the Egyptian army who fused Nazi national socialism with the Islamism of the Muslim Brotherhood and took over Egypt after deposing Farouk in 1951.
The founder of Palestinian nationalism's singleminded dedication to the genocide of Jewry brings us to the second notable but forgotten anniversary we passed over this month.
On Nov. 12 1942 the British led forces -- with the massive and unreported support of Jewish commando and engineering units from the land of Israel -- defeated Germany's Afrika Corps led by Gen. Rommel in the second Battle of Alamein. With the German defeat, the specter of a German occupation of the Middle East was removed. Husseini and Himmler had planned that under German occupation, the Arabs would expand the Holocaust to the 800,000 Jews of the Arab world and the 450,000 Jews in the land of Israel. To this end, the Germans had organized the Einzatzgruppen Afrika unit attached to Rommel's army. Under the command of SS LTC Walter Rauff, it was tasked with murdering Jews located in the areas that were to come under German occupation.
It is fitting that yesterday, on the anniversary of Hitler's meeting with Husseini, Germany announced that it would not oppose Husseini's heirs' bid to receive UN recognition of a Palestinian state that seeks Israel's destruction.
Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

But what needs to change is the response by Jewish people.

From Germany, as a German, unfortunately, I have to tell you that it's getting worse and worse here. One has to deal with the most insane claims and ideas about Israel and the Arabs as soon almost anyone opens his mouth.
O-Dog...It is well established that Arabs under Israeli rule enjoy far more freedom, liberty and opportunity to succeed than exists anywhere in the Arab world. Eating "sand pies" is what Muslim leaders in the majority of Arab nations are willing to consign their citizenry to. There is a difference between demanding residents behave in a civilized manner or leave, and stating clearly we want to push you into the sea and kill you.
Great article! Only the facts of history repeated over and over again to the western world will have any impact. Sadly, it would almost seem that the west is willingly ignorant of the history of the Middle East. If they continue in this mindset, it will be disastrous in the long run.
I recently heard that Stevie Wonder is going to cancel his concert for the IDF due to concerns about Israeli "apartheid." I submit for your review a possible response letter to Mr. Wonder, as I rarely see effective responses to these ridciulous claims:

We hear you cancelled your concert for the Israeli Defense Forces because "Apartheid is apartheid." Perhaps some clarification from you would be in order?
First, as context, you should know that when Israel was established, the surrounding mideast countries expelled their communities of Jews. These Sephardic Jews had been living there for centuries. Their homes and businesses were seized with no compensation and they arrived in Israel with suitcases and the shirts on their back. Presumably their destruction was planned, but it was not successful. So there Israel sits, a small island of Jews, a persecuted minority, afloat on a sea of Islam. Half of Israel is sephardic. And you criticize Israel's "apartheid."
I wonder if you would criticize the "apartheid" carried out by the Native Americans? Come out strongly against the Cherokees? They roamed America, as the Jews lived throughout the mideast, and they were similarly confined on reservations. There they are, a reservation floating on a sea of white people, a persecuted minority trying to survive. Will you condemn them? There are many white people that live in the vicinity of the reservations, yet they cannot live on the Cherokee land itself. This is apartheid, right? The Cherokees have no right to survive, right? We should all just pretend white people have nowhere else to live except on the Cherokee land and we should condemn those evil Cherokees.
How about a historical black university, here in America? A small patch of land of a persecuted minority floating on a sea of white people. It works to educate its people, and preserve their identity, history and culture. Should we pretend that white students living in the vicinity have no other choice in schooling and they are the victims of an evil apartheid perpetuated by such a school? An apartheid by the blacks, the persecuted minority, against white people?
Surely if Apartheid is Apartheid then just as Israel's struggle to survive is evil, so is that of the Cherokees. And that of the blacks. When Will you oppose them, as part of your moral stance?
May we suggest a gut check with a simple reality. Israel is small. Its adversaries are big. Its actions are for survival. Apartheid accusations are just silly. White people here in America have lots of places to live and they don't have to bother Cherokees or black colleges. It's simple decency. The adversaries of Israel have land masses the size of America. They could and should do the same.
"Germany announced that it would not oppose Husseini's heirs' bid" - Apparently Germany, which initially planned to abstain, has surrendered under a heavy pressure from the British Foreign Office. One's at a loss to decide which is more contemptible - the former's pusillanimity (a dubious consolation for having launched WWII and extermination of the Jews) or the latter's militant pro-Arabism (a strange posture for a country whose days of imperial glory are long past).
One note worth adding is that from the moment he arrived in Germany, Haj Amin al-Husseini became one of the loudest voices advocating that the Nazis change their policy on Jews from one of expulsion to one of extermination.
This is Nuremberg trial testimony confirmed by Eichmann's deputy, Dieter Wisliceny, and by second-hand testimony from an engineer who heard the exact words from Eichmann himself.
In its call for extermination of all Jews, and also in its tactic of murdering Arab opponents, Hamas proves beyond any doubt that it is the ideological successor to Husseini.
However, the PA is not innocent. Some of its incessant demonization of Jews is taken almost word for word from Husseini's propaganda broadcasts from Radio Zeesen in 1940's Nazi Germany.
None of this is apparent to the mainstream media, most of whom appear to believe that the world began in 1967.
Those who understand prophecy know there will be another holocaust.
This time it won't be just the Jews. America and Britain will also experience a holocaust in World War III. After three and one half years the Messiah will appear to deliver Israel from captivity in a second great exodus. This is the Ezekiel watchman message.
The only way for these 3 nations to escape the Great Tribulation in World War III is to repent of sin - which is the transgression of the law - and start living by God's law of the 10 commandments. That includes observing the great test commandment of keeping the Sabbath from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. But we all know that is not going to happen.
What should the Jews do? They should turn to God for deliverance.

I really think when God judges men all this information from people like you and others, will prove people have no excuse for their behavior. It will be a sad day for the people who hated the Jewish people. I don't guess I have ever heard of this Husseini character, but sounds like he had some ambitious goals in the name of his religion. I don't like terror groups in any way, but if he could get the collective support of nation states then he must have been in the right. Even if it was the Third Reich....
