Fareed Zakaria - plagiarist.jpg

Another one for the annals of higher education.

Fareed Zakaria, TIME and CNN's media star and Obama foreign policy advisor and media flack has been caught plagiarizing. See here.

Both media outlets have suspended him.

Interestingly silent in this scandal is Zakaria's other major professional home: Yale University. You see, in addition to his well known media and political associations, Zakaria also serves as the chairman of Yale University's Educational Policy Committee. He also serves on the Yale Corporation's Investments Committee. The Yale Corporation has had no response whatsoever to Zakaria's transgression.

While plagiarism is a horrible thing in the media, it is about the biggest academic crime known to man. And yet, again, Yale has taken no action against the plagiarist who heads its education policy committee.

Nice university they've got there.

"Another one for the annals of higher education" - This sort of thing shouldn't suprise anybody observant of what's been happening to western media and academia.

According to the newsbusters.org article that Caroline sites, Time has suspended him for a whopping "month"! Albeit, pending further review.

If Joe Biden is precedent, Zakaria could still be Vice President some day.

What a loser!

Fareed Zakaria was rumored to be a possible Secretary of State to replace Hillary Clinton if God forbid Obama wins re-election.

Incredibly Obama seems to consistently select advisers with decidedly questionable ethics, or perhaps this is part of his reaching out to Muslims. Having read some of Zakaria's articles in the past, this latest action hardly surprises me. Considering TIME, CNN and Yale's track records lately the suspension actually comes as somewhat of a surprise.

Did I read somewhere that this is not the first time that Zakaria has been caught plagiarizing?
