My friend Benzion Netanyahu died yesterday. I feel such an emptiness and sorrow. I will write about him when I get my head around my thoughts and feelings. For now I just want to say that his memory should be a blessing for his family and for our nation. He was a good friend and a great man. It was a great honor and pleasure to know him. And I am so sorry that his death found me in New York and I missed his funeral.

I am very sorry for your loss. You had the privilege of knowing a great man. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion.
Sorry for your loss. I look forward to learning more about him.
I did not know very much about Benzion Netanyahu, but I can feel your hurt and sadness. The tributes I have read have made me realize what a truly special human being he was and the tremendous impact he had on the Jewish State. May his strength continue in his sons especially Bibi who has been entrusted with the security of Medinat Yisrael. G-d's blessings on the family and all Klal Yisrael.
The odious MJ Rosenberg (Kapo extraordinaire) has some particularly disgusting tweets regarding Netanyahu's father's death at 102. He tweeted "I guess as the Billy Joel song goes 'Only the good die young' " so I wondered if that's the reason he is still here.
Bless you're sweet heart Caroline, and may Mr. Netenyahu rest at peace in the arms of the Lord!
May you (and the rest of Israel) be comforted among the mourners of Zion.
I think the best way of honoring his memory is to help us create a blueprint of action items that we need to advocate for in the US to support Israel. I am all to aware of the fact that Israel is a sovereign state, and does what is in its best interests, independent of pressure from any pressure from the President of the United States...
But.. how much easier would it be for Elected officials in Israel to take care of some of Israel's internal problems if we here in the US had a President that respected the fact that Israel is the Only Democracy in the Middle East????
Like the prayer we say at Pesach, Dayenu, Imagine how much easier it would be for us here, if we had a friend in the White House..
Ex: Israel suffered tremendously last year from the horrific wild fire in Carmel....the rebuilding effort is a years long process....
Judea & Samaria.. Annexing of those territories might have already taken place if there were pressure from the WH.. I know there was a bill introduced in the Knesset, but it hasn't advanced yet... Partially due to pressure from Israels on Left oriented political party.. who are ready to concede territory.. and are all to quick to pacify the pressure this Administration is putting on Israel....
Do I think a Romney Presidency will be "perfect".. NO.. but if he does get in, and he sees where his vote came from (most probably the Evangelical Christian movement), he'll remember that...
He is an example of a Generation that has sadly faded away here in The United States...but I hope and I prey that Israel...will remain strong and free for ever...
Thank you for your articles Caroline...
Please know that your words reach Non-Jews (goyim) like me...and that there are those of us who STAND with you in these dark times...
Be Blessed and Safe....
A fayne, aydelle yid...
I send him all my love.
DEar Caroline,
I am sorry for your loss and in this case, that of Israel and the Jewish People. In my experience, when a learned and great person befriends someone, especially, one much younger,
it brings him/her joy and hope. To you, I would say, this exceptional man in our history, knew his teachings on so many levels could be given to you over the times you had together. he entrusted you with part of his realm of personal legasants. His work and gifts to the world are numerous, but we are all richer for them.
With your own extraordinary intellect and heart, your hamish soul, he knew, you would be able to carry on his legacy- and that you just might improve upon it.You are the Hope of the Future, Caroline. It is a difficult and often heavy burden, I know, but you carry his teachings along with those of others. They go with you in your heart and mind, you see, you are not alone, and with you, he knew, the continuum is insured for the Future.Somehow, he has tried to fortify you to have the strength required.
You will know, when, and what to do.Believe it, or not, I would venture to say, being a Mother and raising a fine, Jewish family is included.
You have been Blessed, but there are accompanying responsibilities. That's just the way it is.
G-d Bless you and keep you and your family safe.
